But the bottom line is that this device was also promoted to act as a multimedia device, giving the user additional functionality in terms of using other applications like Steam, Kodi, Twitch, Netflix, etc.
Something Windows 10 allows and has has greater compatibility with.
I always tend to forget about this. Other then maybe Plex on the Replay I use an Android set top box for a lot of my media consumption

Worth pointing out that even without Windows 10 being a factor, the specs of the Replay would still limit the consoles / systems that it would be able to run smoothly. You mentioned playing newer arcade games and Wii - the Replay would still struggle with those (well, the Wii might be OK, but nothing has been tried/tested as yet. Playstation and N64 have successfully been tested, though).
You've got to remember the price point of this device, and what that's comparable to in terms of other devices on the market doing similar things.
This as well. In all honesty if you just want a cheap decently powerful emulation box buy a Dell Optiplex and throw a video card in.

You'll see a lot people who are on a budget but want to go from console to PC gaming start this way because with an OK video card you can get some decent gaming going. You will also get better performance, video quality, and a bigger library of games then a console offers not to mention you can break away from paying for Xbox Live or PSN. This is the way to get your foot in the door, and experience what PC gaming has to offer.

With the Replay you are also getting the front end, reload software, and form factor

I'm not sure myself. Steve mentioned they plan to do a video explaining on how to do it shortly.

What's the difference between the review product and the final product of the Dreamcade Replay?

To my knowledge the only thing missing from the review product that is in the final is the VGA port.

A VGA port looks like this.

On older consoles (The Sega Dreamcast off the top of my head) you could use VGA to get better picture quality over composite cables. Also a lot of people have CRT based computer screens, and VGA also provides a good picture out of them.

I would imagine some people may want to hook their Replay up to a CRT and and display games as the original 4:3 aspect ratio to get a more true original feel. It would also help in some older arcade builds where the screen is again CRT based.

I would be interested to see how many people still have a CRT in their household. I can remember moving a family members old 32" TV that was one and jeez was that thing heavy.

I saw an article that said in a survey 41 percent of households have at least 1 CRT monitor while 21 percent say they are still using one. That said, that article is 4 years old now.

Here's a more recent article about CRTs

I would argue there are ways to get an LCD to look very similar but then again people go to great lengths for authenticity

They talked about it on the CUPodcast a few months ago. Apparently demand is going up for them causing prices to go up as well. You can see the video here

I only very recently got rid of my CRTs. I just don't have the stamina to lug them around any more! :D
