Support and Troubleshooting FAQ

Post by Trevyn » Fri Jun 08, 2018 10:14 pm

This thread will contain common issues people run into and solutions to those issues.
If you don't see your issue here ask on this thread viewtopic.php?f=11&t=768

General
I asked a question but didn't receive an answer for a long time:
We don't have support staff available 24/7. We will try to respond as soon as we can. Our regular office is open 9:30 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. Pacific Standard Time, Monday - Friday.

Initial Setup
My Replay freezes during windows setup on the "Create Pin" screen:
Restart Replay. Select "Offline Account", followed by "No". You can still link your online account after the setup is finished.

My Replay Registration Code is not accepted:
Be sure you are using the correct code. The code is on the bottom of the Replay (Not the hard-drive enclosure) and follows the format 1A2B-3C4D-5E6F-7G8H

Retro Reload Search
I don't see X game after searching:
Verify that the game is for one of the supported systems. (You can see the available systems on the left side of the screen.) Also verify that you have the correct spelling. Note that some less common games might not be available.

Games
I can't play Commodore 64 games:
Most Commodore 64 games require a keyboard to play. Since the original system used a keyboard the games are programmed assuming they are played with a keyboard. We are working on a solution for this issue.

Emulators
I can't see dreamcast games in the menu:
This is a known issue. we are working to resolve this.

Menu Operation
How do I delete games?
1) Go to Settings / Remove Games.
2) Navigate to the game you want to delete. (use DPad or arrows to enter/exit sub-menus)
3) Press "A" look for a red "X" on the game.
4) Press "Select"
- Or -
1) Go to settings / exit to windows
2) navigate to C:\roms\{System Name}
3) delete Rom file

I used the remove games tool remove something. How do I undo it?
Go to Settings / Reset Disabled Games (this will restart your replay)
- Or -
1) Go to settings / exit to windows
2) Navigate to C:\menu\users\_da
3) Delete or move the disabled.ini file

Display
I am having an issue with X monitor or X TV:
We have not been able to exhaustively test all models of Monitors and TVs. Most issues are solved by unplugging the HDMI or VGA cable, Waiting for 5-10 seconds, before plugging it back in. If your isn't solved by this step ask on this thread viewtopic.php?f=11&t=768 be sure to include the specific model TV or Monitor.

Audio
I can't get the 3.5mm audio jack to work.
You will need to click the speaker icon in the system tray near the clock, and select Speakers (USB Audio Device) This should get it to work.

Screen Tearing / Laggy Performance

Here are some quick fixes
Method One

1. Update your Replay to the latest available updates
2. Update Windows
3. Download DirectX
4. Make internal changes to MAME by doing the following.
Open MAME Application by going to C:\mame\mame.exe (application)
Go to the bottom and click on "Configure Options"
Click on "Video Options"
Then go to the bottom and turn on "Wait Vertical Sync"
Do Not mess with any other settings. Doing so may cause serious issues with emulators not performing correctly After this is done you will want to.

Click on "Return to Previous Menu"
Click on "Save Configuration"
Click on "Return to Previous Menu"
Click on "Exit"

Lastly update the Intel Graphic Drivers by doing the following.
Right click on desktop and choose HD Graphic Settings
Go to the lower right corner and click on Options and Support
On the left side of the screen, click on Support
Then click on the link underneath "Download the latest Intel Graphics Driver"
Follow the instructions from there.
Ensure your refresh rate is set correctly. Some users have noticed its on 30HZ or 59HZ. Correct rate is 60HZ.

Method Two
Your roms may be "outdated" / "fit" MAME's romset. Which is 0.185.
1. You can download your rom(s) from using Retro Reload from DreamArcades Front End
2. You can Google Search a new set from the web
3. If you are an EXPERIENCED user, you can update / or rollback your roms to the 0.185 romset. By using cmpro64. There are websites that can explain this
process in details.

Method Three
1. Lower Your Screen Resolution to 720. This was recommended by DreamArcades
2. Newer LCD / LED / 4K tvs. Should have a mode for picture called "GAME MODE" or refer to your TV's manual. This "should" help with laggyness. MAME
tries to emulate games to their native resolution or frequency (HZ).

If any of these methods, still does not correct your issues. Then trying another emulator should resolve the screen tearing and laggyness.

General Replay Controller Issues:
1) Before you continue I recommend plugging in a standard USB mouse and Keyboard to assist with the following steps.
2) Most controller related issues are a result of improperly mapped controllers. (See section on Controller Mapping below)

Replay controller wont connect to Replay.
1) Verify that the replay dongle is connected to one of the replay's USB ports.
usb_dongle.jpg
usb_dongle.jpg (50.43 KiB) Viewed 1053 times
2) Verify that controller is charged.
3) Press replay button to attempt to connect.
4) If the problem persists there is a possibility the controller is faulty.

Mouse drifts when a Replay Controller is plugged in.
1) Unplug all dongles then plug them back in.
2) Make sure the analog sticks are at a neutral position while the controller syncs with the Replay.
3) If the problem persists there is a possibility the controller is faulty.

Button {X} doesn't work with game/feature {Y}
1) If you are using a Replay Controller verify the controller is in either X-Input mode or D-Input Mode 2 (See info about Replay Controller modes below)
2) Verify all buttons on the controller work. (See info about testing buttons below)
3) Remove any Controller overrides for the affected controller. controller overrides are found at C:\menu\users\_da\controllers\overrides\[Controller Id].xml
4) Remap the affected controller.
Either
A) delete C:\menu\users\_da\controllers\custom\[Controller Id].xml
or
B) In the menu, go to Settings\Configure Controllers\Controller Name
5) See section on controller mapping below.

Testing Controller buttons
1) Exit to windows
2) Open the start menu
3) Type joy.cpl then press ENTER
4) Select the controller from the list.
5) Press a button on the controller and verify the button indicator on the screen lights up.

Replay Controller Lights
1) When the Replay controller is trying to connect all four buttons flash.
2) When the Replay controller is connected and working either 1 or 2 lights will be lit and not flashing.
3) When the Replay controller is at low batter power lights flash.

Replay Controller Modes
The Replay controller has 3 modes
X-Input: 1 Light lit, mode will not change when Replay button is pressed
D-Input Mode-1: 1 Light lit, Pressing Replay Button causes second light to turn on. (Not Recommended)
D-Input Mode-2: 2 Lights lit, Pressing Replay Button causes second light to turn off.
If the replay is in X-Input mode holding the replay button for several seconds goes to D-Input Mode-1
If the replay is in either D-Input mode holding the replay button for several seconds goes to X-Input Mode.

Removing Controller Mapping Settings
1) Exit to Windows
2) Navigate to C:\menu\users\_da\controllers\custom
3) Delete {controller Id}.xml
4) Navigate to C:\menu\users\_da\controllers\overrides
5) Delete {controller Id}.xml

Controller Mapping
1) When prompted to press {Button 1} press the correct button on your controller. Button 1 should be the {A} button on a Replay or X-Box controller, or the {X} button on a PlayStation Controller.
2) When prompted press Left/Right on the D-Pad.
3) Use D-Pad to navigate to the image of a controller that best fits your controller. The Image doesn't have to be an exact fit but should have the same amount of buttons.
4) Press the buttons when prompted.

Controller Overrides
Controller Overrides remap a specific controller for a specific system. This section will be expanded with more info soon.

PS4 Controller Paring with Bluetooth

To connect the PS4 controller via Bluetooth, press and hold the central PS Button and the Share button for three seconds until the lightbar at the top of the controller begins to flash.

Next open up the Bluetooth settings on your PC. In Windows 10, click on the speech bubble icon in the Taskbar at the bottom-right corner of your screen. This opens up the Action Center – from there click 'Bluetooth' and then select 'Wireless Controller'.

You may be asked to enter a pair code – if so type in 0000. The PS4 DualShock controller will now be connected wirelessly to your PC.

Passwords and Windows Lock Screen
Some users have reported issues with the windows lock screen. Normally their is no lock screen on the Replay. However if you add a password to your Replay during windows setup the lock screen may cause issues.

In this case you must plug in a keyboard and use the keyboard to type in your password.

EDIT:
Go here for info on removing windows passwords.

Replay Setup and Extra file downloads:
Extra file downloads automatically pops up during initial setup.

Everything is optional however many of them are required for proper function of certain emulators.

Some files are fairly large so the screen may appear to freeze while they download.

Gamecube (Piko Games) and PSX (Piko Games) are especially large. Your replay will be fully functional with out these files.

Depending on which extra downloads are included and your network speed you may have to wait for an hour or more for this step to complete.

You can also rerun the extra downloads (or any part of the Replay setup) by going to: c:\menu\setup\Extras.exe
