Adding Emulators To The Stock FE **Various Third Party**

Post by Mireille2015 » Tue Nov 06, 2018 12:26 pm

Here is a collection of different emulators that you can easily add. This thread will be long, but we will try to keep it simple. If there is an emulator you wish to see added or want to try on the Replay. Let us know. Thanks!

**Note**
#1 Nestopia for FDS/NES
#2 Redream for Sega Dreamcast
#3 Mednafen for various systems
#4 Kega Fusion for Sega CD/ quick fix for 32X
#5 AdviEmulator for Entex Adventure Vision
#6 Daphne for various laser disc games - working on this for simple solution
#7 SingeDaphne for American Laser Games - working on this for simple solution

As always, when adding any emulator, your going to need a KEYBOARD, MOUSE, and NOTEPAD++, or some text editor.

#1 ***Adding Famicon Disc System (NES)***

Here is a quick install of Nestopia. You will need a keyboard and mouse for this, as well having notepad++ or some text editor.
**NOTE** You can play both NES and Famicon roms. In order to play Famicon, you will need to download the bios, which is required to play FDS. It will be a bin file. Once you have download it. Just place it directly in C:\emualtors\fds. Once you play a fds rom, you will be prompted to locate the bios. At first windows isn't going to find it. At the bottom, make sure you change the drop down file to All Files. Select your bios, click open. It should now automatically run the rom. If you notice a small playing window. Then hit alt+enter to have fullscreen. To exit any game, then hit select+start . Roms can be zipped or unzip. Your preference.

1) Download the emulator, unzip it, and place the unzipped folder in C:\emulators. Rename the folder to fds
2) Double click the nestopia.exe and allow the emulator's window to pop up.
3) Go to Options tab and go to Input. Bind your controllers to your personal preference. Once finished, click ok.
4) Go to Options tab and go to preference. Check off "Switch to Fullscreen on startup". Then check off all File associations. Then check off Favored System on the bottom. Click ok, when done. Exit the emulator.
5) Create a new folder and name it fds. Place it directly in C:\snaps. If you wish to add any images for your roms
6) Create a new folder and name it fds. Place it directly in C:\roms or where you store your roms.
7) Go to C:\menu\machines\ and make a copy of NES.png and name it fds.png
8) Go to C:\menu\users\_da\systems and make a copy of NES.cfg. Name it Nestopia.cfg
Open the file with Notepad++ or a text editor. Either copy this or carefully edit......

<?xml version="1.0" ?>
<machines>
<machine name='Famicon' key='fds' players='2'>
<launch executable='c:\emulators\fds\nestopia.exe' arg='{gameFile}' />
<roms location='fds\' />

#2 ***Adding Redream for Sega Dreamcast***

The Redream Emulator performs much better and has more compatible games for the Dreamcast. In addition, depending which version you get. You can get the Redream to display in 4K

You will need a keyboard and mouse and Notepad++ or a text editor

1) Grab the latest version of Redream. Unzip the folder. Rename the unzip folder Redream. And place it directly in C:\emulators

2) Open the Redream folder and double click the redream.exe. Allow the window to popup. In Video
Fullscreen = True, Window Size 320X240

3) Now go to Input and bind your controller(s). Once finished. Close Redream.
4) create a new folder and call it redream. Place it directly in C:\snaps
5) create a new folder and call it redream. Place it directly in C:\roms and or in another drive
6) go to C:\menu\users\_da\systems and make a copy of Dreamcast.cfg and place it on desktop for now. Rename the cfg file to Redream. Open the cfg file with Notepad++ or a text editor. And ensure the following is the same as below. You can copy and paste this if you wish. Once done, be sure to save and place it directly in C:\menu\users\_da\systems. The select+start will work to exit the game. Rom extension in .cdi, .chd, or .gdi. So far I've been using games in .cdi format. No issues.

<?xml version="1.0" ?>

<roms location='redream\' />
<snaps location='C:\snaps\redream\' />
<image file='machines/dreamcast.png' x='30' y='20' w='591' h='823' />
<config template='configTemplates\default.cfg' location='C:\mame\cfg2p\redream.cfg' />

#3 ***Adding Mednafen Emulator***

For this Emulator, I did my best to keep it simple. Its not a user friendly emulator. So Here goes!!

YOU WILL NEED A KEYBOARD AND MOUSE FOR THIS. YOU WILL ALSO NEED TO DOWNLOAD NOTEPAD++.

Download the latest mednafen emulator. Win64 version. Extract the folder.

1) Rename the folder to mednafen. Then place the folder directly to C:\emulators
2) Open the folder
3) Double click on mednafen.exe. You will get an error message. This is normal. There will be extra files popping up. Click OK on the error box to close.
4) Look for mednafen.cfg. Open it with Notepad++.

NOW PERFORM THE FOLLOWING:

You should see cd.image_memcache 0. Change the zero to a one.
Click on search. Then Find.. In Find what: box. Type filesys.untrusted_fip_check 1. Change the one to a zero
Click on search. Then Find.. In Replace Tab: Find what: box. Type aspect_mult2. Then in Replace with: box. Type aspect
Click on Replace All. Click Close.
Now save!!
Create a new folder and call it user. Place it directly inside the mednafen folder. Should look like this
C:\emulators\mednafen\user

Any system you wish to play, it is best to take that rom, example Super Mario World (SNES)
place it over mednafen.exe (open with) first. This will bring up the screen. Make sure your controller you wish to
use is plugged in or sync already!

1) Hit alt + enter. This will now add black bars during full screen
2) Controller Set Up. While Running your game.
For Player one set up hit alt + shift + 1
For Player two set up hit alt + shift + 2

You must do this each time for every new system you wish to play.
Now hit escape on keyboard to save!!

This emulator can emulate these systems. Place any bios exactly where mednafen.exe is at!

none - None/Disabled

•autoip - Auto Interpolation
Will automatically interpolate on each axis if the corresponding effective scaling factor is not an integer.

•autoipsharper - Sharper Auto Interpolation
Same as "autoip", but when interpolation is done, it is done in a manner that will reduce blurriness if possible.

•scale2x - Scale2x

•sabr - SABR v3.0
GPU-intensive.

•ipsharper - Sharper bilinear interpolation.

•ipxnoty - Linear interpolation on X axis only.

•ipynotx - Linear interpolation on Y axis only.

•ipynotxsharper - Sharper version of "ipynotx".

•goat - Simple approximation of a color TV CRT look.
Intended for fullscreen modes with a vertical resolution of around 1000 to 1500 pixels. Doesn't simulate halation and electron beam energy distribution nuances.

ADDING TURBOGRAFX-16 CD Profile

NOTE: It seems that hitting the escape key on the keyboard is be better than the select + start to exit, during game play.

Make sure your roms work first. Just go to C:\emulators\mednafen\mednafen.exe, and place the rom or cue file on mednafen.exe. Again, Mednafen reads only cue files for CD games. Be sure to install the Mednafen and setup first before doing this.
For a quick tip. Make a copy/back up on mednafen.cfg….. go to C:\emulators\mednafen\mednafen.cfg
You really want to make a copy of this file to save you headache on reconfigure again. If you somehow forget to add a bios, or incorrect command to find the game, while in the front end. Somehow Mednafen tends to be finicky. Bind your controller first, when you do the rom / cue over mednafen.exe. It will save your controls. Instead of going through the front end.

1) create a new folder and call it tg16cd. Place it directly in C:\snaps
2) create a new folder and call it tg16cd. Open tg16cd folder and create a new folder inside of tg16cd and call it bin
Now place the tg16cd folder directly to C:\roms or your new default location.

NOTE: You must place all bin files inside the bin folder, which is inside tg16cd folder. And all cue files will be
place directly in tg16cd folder.

EXAMPLE:
C:\roms\tg16cd\Dracula X.cue
C:\roms\tg16cd\bin\Dracula X.bin

Mednafen only reads cue files. So, that means you must open the cue file with notepad++, and insert bin/ right after the first quotation mark, where it states FILE
EXAMPLE:
FILE "bin/Dracula X (Track 01).bin"

This tells the cue file where to find the necessary bin file. Sorry, but this is the only way I know for now. Tad longer to do, but it works. Thx to "Final Contra" quick hack!!

3) Go to C:\menu\machines\tg16.png. Make a copy of the file and name it tg16cd.
4) Go to C:\menu\users\_da\systems\ Look for the cfg file name TurboGrafx 16. Make a copy of it and place the copy on desktop for now
rename the cfg to TG-16 CD. Open the cfg file with Notepad++. Make sure all the commands look like the one below. Once you are done, place the cfg file
directly to C:\menu\users\_da\systems.

<?xml version="1.0" ?>
<machines>
<machine name='TurboGrafx-16 CD' key='tg16cd' players='2'>

<button name='dPad-up'>Up</button>
<button name='dPad-down'>Down</button>
<button name='dPad-left'>Left</button>
<button name='dPad-right'>Right</button>
<button name='button2'>A</button>

<button name='button5'>L</button>
<button name='button6'>R</button>
<button name='start'>Start</button>

</machines>

ADDING SEGA SATURN Profile This is in experimental stage for Mednafen. There will be stuttering. Go to the official website. And check under documentations for more detailed information on making changes.

#4 ***Kega Fusion / Sega CD***

How to Fix this emulator. Remember, this is for Kega Fusion Only!! Only system that is running on Fusion is 32X.
Kega Fusion emulates Sega consoles like, Mastersystem, Game Gear, Genesis, 32X and Sega CD

First things first. BACK UP YOUR FILES!!! BACK UP YOUR FILES!! DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!!

****Dreamcade nor myself is responsible, if you damage your Replay or its contents****

Having a Keyboard and Mouse will definetely will help during this!!

****FOR THOSE WHO HAVE BIOS****

What is Bios? A bios is a copy of the operating system of the system you are trying to emulate.

Now if you have the BIOS for Mastersystem, Game Gear, Genesis, 32X, and Sega CD. Create a new folder called "bios" and directly place it in
C:\emualtors\genesis

EXAMPLES of Bios for Systems. Just search over the internet. Master System/Genesis/Game Gear are already emulated through MAME. This if you want to go through Fusion
later on. And add Sega CD into the menu.

Master System bios:
Sega Master System (Japan).sms
Sega Master System (USA).sms
Sega Master Sysyem (Europe).sms
SF7000.bin

Game Gear bios:
Sega Game Gear (USA) (Majesco).gg

Sega Genesis bios:
Genesis_OS_ROM.bin

32X bios:
32x_G.bin
32x_M.bin
32x_S.bin

Sega CD
eu_mcd2_9306.bin
jp_mcd1_9112.bin
us_scd2_9306.bin

1) go to: C:\menu\configTemplates
delete these files. Fusion.cfg and Fusion.ini.trns

2) go to: C:\emulators\genesis
delete these these files. Fusion.cfg and Fusion2.cfg

3) go to: C:\emulators\genesis
double click on Fusion.exe to open the emulator, for the first time. It will appear in a small screen, with static. This is normal. On top, you will see "File, Video, Sound, Options, and Help" Click on options. Uncheck Show FPS, Uncheck Show SegaCD LEDs. Make sure Perfect Sync is Checked.

4) While in options tab, click on Set Config. This will bring up Fusion Configurations screen. There are six tabs. The first four are placing the bios directly to their corresponding system. Click on Controllers tab. This is where you can bind your controller dirctly to the emulator.
For Genesis/SegaCD/32X Controllers
Port 1 (player 1) First tab you can choose 3 button or 6 button genesis "controls".Second tab you can choose keyboard or your controller (must be plugged in)
Port 2 (player 2) First tab you can choose 3 button or 6 button genesis "controls". Second tab you ca choose keyboard or your controller (must be plugged in)
Define is where you can set up, down, left, right, a,b,c,x,y,z, start and mode on your controller
This is the same for Master System/Game Gear

5) Close out the emulator completely. This will create a new fusion.cfg in C:\emulators\genesis. You will need to open fusion.cfg file. double click it (Notepad is fine)
Under Graphics Compatibility Options. Look for ForceFullScreen32=0. Change the 0 to 1
Under General Settings.Look for FullScreen=0. Change 0 to 1.

6) Now save. Your done. This will now take care of 32X automatically

*ADDING SEGA CD INTO THE MENU*

*NOTE!* Please follow the instructions above in the regards to fixing Fusion and adding bios to Fusion Emulator. Or this will not work properly.
You will need a keyboard and a mouse for this!

1) Create a new folder and call it segacd. Place the folder directly in C:\snaps
2) Create a new folder and call it scd. Place the folder directly in C:\roms
3) Since there is no image of a Sega CD in the line up. You can go to C:\menu\machines and make a copy of Genesis.png and name it segacd. If you
don't, you will have a missing system when you highlight Sega CD. Looks weird without it. Just saying.
4) Now go to C:\menu\users\_da\systems. Make a copy of Sega32X config file and place it on the desktop.
5) Rename the Copy version of 32X to Sega CD.
6) Open the cfg file by double clicking on it. Use Notepad. You need to make sure the settings look exactly the one below. Once you are done, be
sure to save it. And place it directly to C:\menu\users\_da\systems. Your done!

<?xml version="1.0" ?>
<machines>
<machine name='Sega CD' key='segacd' loadingDelay='6000' players='2'>
<launch executable='c:\emulators\genesis\fusion.exe' arg='{gameFile}' />
<roms location='scd\' />
<snaps location='C:\snaps\segacd\' />
<image file='machines/segacd.png' x='30' y='20' w='591' h='823' />
<config template='configTemplates\segacd.cfg' location='C:\mame\cfg2p\segacd.cfg' />
<screenshot x='66' y='265' w='330' h='247' defaultImage="genesis.gif" />
<button name='dPad-up'>Up</button>
<button name='dPad-down'>Down</button>
<button name='dPad-left'>Left</button>
<button name='dPad-right'>Right</button>
<button name='button1'>B</button>
<button name='button2'>C</button>
<button name='button3'>A</button>
<button name='button4'>Z</button>
<button name='button5'>X</button>
<button name='button6'>Y</button>
<button name='start'>Start</button>
</machine>
</machines>

#5 ***AdviEmulator***

This is to add AdViEmulator for Adventure Vision

You will need a keyboard and a mouse and your controller for this!

Obtain your copy, unzip if needed, obtain bios if needed. Should look like Entex Adventure Vision (USA,Europe).bin

1) Create a new folder and call it "entex". Place the emulator and its content inside the folder. Including bios, if you have it. Place this folder directly in C:\emulators

2) Double click or open the adviemualtor.exe. Very important here.
In Emulation Tab
Make sure to check Auto Start on ROM.
Install your bios. Check off Use Custom CPU (8048) firmware
In Controls Tab
You will need to bind your keyboard or controller. Or this will not work.
Once done, click ok. And completely exit the emulator, to do the next steps

3) Create a new folder and call it "entex". Place this in C:\snaps. For still or video images of the games

4) Create a new folder and call it "entex"/ Place this in C:\roms and any other drive you keep your roms. (?)\roms Make sure the roms are UNZIP

5) Go to C:\menu\machines. Of course there is no .jpeg or .png for this. For this demonstration, make a COPY of the Commodore64 and name it "entex".
Trust me, it will look pretty for now.

6) Now the proper commands and configs. By now, you should have everything done, in previous steps. To make this easy for some folks. Go to C:\menu\users\_da\systems. Choose the NES cfg. Make a copy, and place it on desktop.

7) Open the cfg file either double clicking on it or right click then open. Just use Notepad. Keep it simple.

8) Dont worry about the language. Because it needs to look like this below. Follow EXACTLY how this is written. Once your done, be sure to rename it "Entex" Then place the cfg directly in C:\menu\users\_da\sytems. Your done. Load unzip roms and test.

<?xml version="1.0" ?>
<machines>
<machine name='Adventure Vision' key='entex' loadingDelay='10000' players='1'>
<launch executable='C:\emulators\entex\adviemulator.exe' arg=' {gameFile}' />
<roms location='entex'/>
<snaps location='C:\snaps\entex\' />
<image file='machines/entex.png' x='30' y='20' w='591' h='823' />
<config template='configTemplates\entex.cfg' location='C:\mame\cfg2p\entex.cfg' />
<screenshot x='66' y='265' w='330' h='247' defaultImage="null" />
<button name='dPad-up'>Up</button>
<button name='dPad-down'>Down</button>
<button name='dPad-left'>Left</button>
<button name='dPad-right'>Right</button>
<button name='button1'>1</button>
<button name='button2'>2</button>
<button name='button3'>3</button>
<button name='button4'>4</button>
