I'm just guessing here but...they probably realized there was a LOT more to do to get this thing more 'console-like' and 'plug in and play' then previously thought would be necessary.

About 95% of emulation can be emulated through Retroarch and use cores. This can help eliminate controller cfg and complications. Can this be done. Yes.

I dont know the legal stuff about using Retroarch for commercial use. But now that users have the Replay, the end user can easily swap to Retroarch.

Only having two programmers is kinda hard to work on large cabs and Replay updates. So I see that from their point. And the same time, there are users waiting patiently for these needed updates.

I believe it is not so much RetroArch itself, but the cores it uses. Each core has its own terms of use, and some if not all are for non commercial use only.

There was a bit of a go around with it when it was used in Hyperkin’s Retron5 here and here
If you are having a software problem be it front end, Windows, or want to try RetroArch and LauchBox but need help feel free to contact me. Post on the forum, PM here, or on Discord. I will be more then happy to do my best to get you sorted.

...and all of that definitely explains why this is 'taking longer than previously thought'! :)

While I can't give you the specifics (Mike will likely put together an update soon), I can tell you the workload and only having 2 engineers does have something to do with it.

Wow I can't believe how dead this place is I was one of the first buyers and I really like the dreamcade. but it's absolutely ridiculous they abandon us with no future updates and plans to add new stuff...

what a shame this thing could have been really big if they stuck to it and maybe made new machines.

Would be nice to update on Kickstarter of delays to the update as February was implied and its now mid march with no end in sight. I really hope they can get this thing to work soon for their own sake, as advances in cloud gaming might mean there is less commercial demand for such devices in the future.
